Bladder and prostate tumors in dogs

As part of a research project, the Institute of Animal Pathology in Bern offers pathohistologic examinations of urinary bladder and prostate tumors free of charge.

Urinary bladder and prostate cancer are one of the most malignant forms of cancer in dogs, and affected animals with advanced disease can generally not be cured. In order to make progress in diagnostic and therapeutic options, a detailed investigation at genetic and pathological level is essential. For the study, we are looking for cases of dogs that have already been diagnosed with bladder or prostate cancer or are suspected of having this disease. We require fresh and fixed tissue from bladder and prostate tumors. As soon as possible after excision, part of the tissue should be placed in the transport medium and the other part in formalin. We will provide you with both the transport medium and a courier service for sending the samples free of charge.
